DIE BRÜCKE ehrte langjährige Mitglieder bei der Jahreshauptversammlung 2018

CASTING / WETZLAR (rge/ger/rg), 10.04.2018 – Beim Deutsch-Amerikanischen Klub DIE BRÜCKE Gießen-Wetzlar konnten in der Jahresmitgliederversammlung die Präsidenten Roger Schmidt und Petra Bröckmann Ehrungen langjähriger Mitglieder vornehmen. So wurden im Hotel Köhler in Gießen Heidrun Kanter für 40 Years, Ruth und Dieter Grebe, der Bundestagsabgeordnete Hans-Jürgen Irmer, Walter Ludwig und Ida Wagner für 30 Jahre sowie Regina Adam -teilweise in Abwesenheit- Dank und Anerkennung für ihre Klubtreue ausgesprochen. Im Jahresbericht erinnerte Schmidt an den Höhepunkt des vergangenen Jahres mit dem Brücke-Benefizkonzert „Winter MUSIC Wonderland“ mit Orchester, Chören und Solisten im ausverkauften Forum der Volksbank Mittelhessen in Gießen im Dezember. Eine Spende in Gesamthöhe von 5.000 Euro an die Lebenshilfe Gießen sowie für den transatlantischen Jugend- und Studentenaustausch war das schöne Ergebnis gewesen. Gedankt wurde dafür allen Beteiligten und Unterstützern. Zum Jahresprogramm gehörten zudem der Neujahrsempfang mit Generalmajor Markus Laubenthal und in diesem Jahr mit Astronaut Thomas Reiter. Das festliche Goose-Dinner zu Thanksgiving und ein Sommer-BBQ gehörten ebenso zu gesellschaftlichen Ereignissen mit zahlreichen Gästen bei dem 112 Mitglieder zählenden Klubs. Bei den Stammtischen gab es wieder interessante Gäste, wie beispielsweise Schriftstellerin Jule Heck, Prof. DR. Ulf Sibelius von PalliativPro oder dem Leiter der Musikschule Wetzlar, Thomas Sander. „Auf Kurs bleiben und auf rauer See immer die Menschen zu sehen auf die es ankommt.“ sagte Schmidt im Blick auf aktuelle Ereignisse in der Welt und die transatlantische Verständigung, für die die Brücke auch in Zukunft einstehen werde. Kerstin Ruppel als Studentenbeauftragte informierte danach über das VDAC-Austauschprogramm für Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene. In diesem Jahr hat die deutsche Studentin Julia Sophie van der Horst das Stipendium für eine US-amerikanische Universität erhalten. Ein amerikanischer Student wird im Sommer wieder in Mittelhessen erwartet. Schatzmeister Fritz Hoßbach konnte von einer guten Kassenlage berichten. Entlastung von der Versammlung gab es auf Vorschlag der Prüfer Nicole Heppner und Jürgen Gemmer einstimmig. Neue Kassenprüfer sind neben Gemmer, Ingrid Kreiling und Martin Zimmermann. Am Ende der Versammlung informierte Schmidt über die bevorstehende Convention (Mitgliederversammlung) des Verbandes der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Klubs (VDAC). Gastgeberstadt ist dann vom 4. to 6. May. 2018 Wetzlar. In Gesprächen ist man bei der Brücke mit deutschen und US-Vertretern aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Universitäten zur Etablierung eines Praktika-Programms für junge Erwachsene, die Erfahrungen in renommierten Unternehmen aus Mittelhessen und jenseits des Atlantiks in den USA sammeln wollen, informierte das für Deutsch-Amerikanische Beziehungen mitverantwortliche Brücke-Vorstandsmitglied Helmut Ott. Ausverkauftes Forum der Volksbank Mittelhessen in Gießen

POHLHEIM (rg / guardian / ger), Es war ein traumhafter Konzertabend in Gießen für die gute Sache von Kindern und Jugendlichen kurz vor Weihnachten. Regional und Transatlantisch. Für das Benefizkonzert Winter MUSIC Wonderland des Deutsch-Amerikanischen Klubs DIE BRÜCKE bildete das farbenfroh illuminierte Forum der Volksbank Mittelhessen dafür die perfekte große Bühne und für drei namhafte Chöre mit Cantamus Gießen (Leiter Axel Pfeiffer), Klangfarben Gießen (Jean Kleeb) und Voice Factory Holzheim (Matthias Hampel), ein klangvolles Blasorchester mit dem Musikzug Holzheim (Alfred Peppmöller) and two voting full singers with Aayana Bato and Ingi fat the right setting. Das alles war von der BRÜCKE für die gute Sache der Kinder- und Jugendarbeit der Lebenshilfe Gießen mit der Inklusion in der Sophie-Scholl-Schule Gießen sowie dem Verband Deutsch-Amerikanischer Klubs (VDAC) bestimmt.

Brücke-Präsident Roger Schmidt freute sich so mit Moderatorin und Vize-Präsidentin Petra Bröckmann über ein ausverkauftes Haus im gläsernen Forum. Nach dem instrumentalen Intro „Highland Cathedral“ durch die Orchestermusiker überbrachte Volksbank-Vorstand Dr. Lars Witteck die besten Wünsche an die vielen Besucher. Er würdigte dabei besonders die gerade in diesen Zeiten wichtige Völker verbindende transatlantische Arbeit der Brücke. Seinen Worten folgte auch Schirmherrin, Landrätin Anita Schneider. Die ebenfalls anwesende Aufsichtsratsvorsitzende der Lebenshilfe Gießen Maren Müller-Erichsen informierte die Gäste über die inklusive Arbeit an der Sophie-Scholl-Schule im gemeinsamen Lernen von behinderten und nicht behinderten Schülern. Ganz still wurde es im Forum als die Solistin Aayana Bato den „Little Drummer Boy“ mit dem Trommelschlag eines elfjährigen Musikers intonierte. Dem folgte das „Winter Wonderland“ als amerikanischer Weihnachtsklassiker, bevor die Voice Factory unter anderem den beschwingten „Weihnachtskekseswing“ sowie den choreografierten „Lord of the dance“ präsentierten. Der aktuelle Gewinner des Hessischen Chorwettbewerbs, Cantamus Gießen mit Axel Pfeiffer, setzte weitere, besondere Akzente. Mit dem perfekt intonierten „O magnum mysterium“, dem Spiritual „The Battle of Jericho“ sowie dem bekannte Weihnachtshit „Jingle Bells“ verzauberten sie das Publikum. Diesen einzigartigen Musikwelten stand der Kammerchor Klangfarben Gießen in nichts nach. Ola Gjeilos „Norther Lights“ war einer ihrer Beiträge, zu dem auch das brasilianische Weihnachtslied aus dem Heimatland des Dirigenten Jean Kleeb „Estrela de Natal“ gehörte. Bekannt unter anderem von den „Drei Stimmen“, bildete Ingi Fett im weißen Abendkleid ein weiteres Glanzlicht an diesem Abend. Premiere hatte dabei an ihrer Seite Tochter Lilli. „When christmas comes to town“ aus dem Film „Polarexpress“ und „Santa Claus is coming to town“ verzauberte die Konzertbesucher. Zum Finale stimmten die Sängerinnen und Sänger gemeinsam mit dem 25-köpfigen Orchester und dem Publikum Michael Jacksons Hymne „We are the world“ an . Ein schönes musikalisches Signal für das verbindende der Menschheit über alle Grenzen. Der transatlantische Austausch den die Brücke in der Zusammenarbeit mit dem VDAC betreibt, ist dafür von wichtiger Bedeutung, verdeutlichte Schmidt in seines Dankesworten am Ende. Besonders erwähnte er dabei die zahlreichen Helfer und Unterstützter. So gehörten unter anderem der Präsident der Kulturorganisation INTERKULTUR mit Günter Titsch und INTERKULTUR China, Wang Qin, BILL Event mit Richard Stoiß, BIEBER Marburg mit Sven Bieber, Auto Häuser mit Gerhold Häuser und die Volksbank Mittelhessen mit dem Generalbevollmächtigten Dr. Lars Witteck zu den Unterstützern aus der heimischen Region von Winter MUSIC Wonderland. Weiterer Dank galt der Licher Brauerei, der Bäckerei Künkel, der Blumenwerkstatt hoch2, IVV Weinhandel, RG-BOX Kommunikation, Saarbourg Design und dem Team der Volksbank Mittelhessen.

Ihm wurde für 24 Jahre Arbeit im Vorstand mit Geschenk und Urkunde gedankt, genau so wie für den ausscheidenden Berater Martin Zimmermann für 16 Jahre ehrenamtliche Vorstandsarbeit. Ehrungen gab es zudem für zwei langjährige Mitglieder. Bei den Vorstandswahlen wurde neben den beiden Präsidenten Roger Schmidt und Petra Bröckmann als Schatzmeister Fritz Hoßbach und Studentenbeauftragte Kerstin Ruppel einstimmig wieder gewählt. Schriftführerin ist neu Stefanie Vera Müller sowie als Beisitzerin Gabriele Stephan. Als Ausschussmitglieder wurden Evelyn Schmadel, Volker Stephan, Christiane Jung (alle Social Events), Thomas Leiser, Helmut Ott (beide German-American-Affairs), Herbert Zimmermann (Wetzlar) and Günther Schmadel,,de,consultant,,de,unanimously appointed by the Assembly,,de,Auditors are Nicole Heppner and Jürgen Gemmer as well as spare Inge Kreiling,,de,At the end of the meeting Schmidt announced the third edition of the benefit concert series "We are the world" for the end of the year,,de,The next event takes place on,,de,June, the popular summer BBQ place,,de (Berater) von der Versammlung einstimmig ernannt. Ihm wurde ein Shirt der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen als Andenken für sein Jahr in Mittelhessen überreicht. Präsident Roger Schmidt und Studentenbeauftragten Kerstin Ruppel wünschten ihm viel Erfolg bei seinem weiteren Studium im Oberlin College in Ohio. Applaus gab es zu dem reichlich für den freundlichen jungen US-Amerikaner, der zahlreiche neue Freunde in Deutschland gefunden hat. Vor seiner Rückreise in die Staaten besucht er noch einmal eine europäische Metropole mit der spanischen Stadt Barcelona. Damit erfüllt er sich einen Traum.
