Das VDAC-Studentenaustauschprogramm ist das größte private Programm zwischen Deutschland und den USA. It is supported by donations and the work of volunteer members in the cooperation of clubs from all over Germany, including the bridge.

The annual promotion enables young people, not only meet the academic and social life, but also to experience.

In total so far for 2.700 Students on 2 Applied million euros.

In Mittelhessen are regular Americans at the Universities guest. Of the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen, or Philipps University Marburg many German students have taken advantage of the possibilities of our scholarship.

Among the 19 American partner universities include the Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan University, Univesity of Cincinnati, University of Florida und die University of Washington (Seattle).

  • 2018 – 2019

    Julia van der Horst was our German student in the US 2018/19. She attended the University of the South in Sewanee,Tennesee.
  • 2018 – 2019

    Andrew Price Watson from Troy in Alabama was our US exchange student 2018/19. He loves music, whether as a singer or an instrumentalist. Er studiert Vocal Music Education. A bridge internship he joined for three months from April 2019 in culture and organization INTERKULTUR. He is the first user of our new Interns program.

     

  • 2016 – 2017

    Samantha (Sam) Serratore came from the University of Delaware and studierteim major in Environmental Technologies and processes in biology and chemistry, minor in German and Chemistry. Active is a vice president at her US university in UD German Club.
  • 2015 – 2016

    Patrick Elsworth was our US student in Central Hesse in 2015/16. In the US, he lived in Washinton DC and comes from Oberlin College in Ohio, the University of Giessen. Dort besuchte er nach der Ankunft bereits den ersten Lehrgang zur Einführung. Er spielt gerne Schach und spricht schon ausgezeichnet Deutsch. Er kennt Deutschland schon vom Schüleraustausch ein wenig. Wir sind gespannt, wie ihm unsere Heimatregion gefällt.

    Carina Thomys war unsere deutsche Austauschstudentin in den USA.Sie besuchte die University of Delaware bis zum Sommer 2015. Nach ihrer Rückkehr berichtet sie uns beim Oktober-Stammtisch über ihre Erfahrungen und Erlebnisse in den Staaten.

    Allison Haskins war für ein Jahr in Gießen. Die amerikanische Austausch-Studentin bezeichnete ihr Jahr in Mittelhessen als "Bestes Jahr" ihres Lebens. Wir wünschen ihr alles Gute für ihre weitere Zukunft.

     The American exchange student Shannon W ilson of the Bowling Green University, Ohio since October 2013 our new American exchange student. Shannon studied economic sciences and German. She has this semester on Mondays and Tuesdays free and they would be happy about referrals, also e.g.. on a trip.

     The German exchange student Tim S auter studied at the University of Delaware, Newark 2012/13. Derzeit absolviert er ein Praktikum in Franfurt bis Ende November und wird dann weiter an der  THM in Gießen studieren.

     The American exchange student Aaron W atkins from the University of Florida, Gainesville, studied 2012/13 German Studies at the University of Giessen. Back home, he will finish his Bachlor in German. In the summer holidays he worked on the east coast at the beach.

     Die amerikanische Austausch-Studentin Jacky  W o o d d e l l von der University of Delaware, Newark, was loving, travel Jacky 'called. Has 2012 made her Bachlor in German Studies and Geography in USA and Germany missed.

     Ilona  S t a u b e r  studierte 2011/12 an der University of Cincinnatti in Ohio. Ilona lives and currently studying in Frankfurt and has this summer started to learn Chinese.

     Unsere deutsche Austauschstudentin Rebecca  M ü l l e r  studierte 2011/12 an der University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa / Alabama.In its final report for the parent table of the bridge they reported initial Schwierigkeiten.Später converted it into very great admiration for the USA and its people.

     Karyn  N o l l, our American exchange student 2010/11 from the University of Delaware in Newark / DE has returned to study at their university in Newark.

     Caitlin Rose  G r o s e , give. Frasier, our American Ausstauschstudentin 2008/09 of the Central Michigan University Mt. Pleasant has a part-time job b.d. Lufthansa in Detroit Flughafen. My son is only three years old.

     Joshua  A r n o l d  von der University of Cincinnati studierte  als Doktorand zwei Jahre an der Justus Liebig Universität in Gießen. Joshua now has a child and works at the University of Cincinatti.

     Lisa-Maria  S c h m i d t  war unsere deutsche Austauschstudentin an der Central Michigan University Mt. Pleasant 2009/10. Lisa-Maria has passed their Master's degree and is now working in HR consulting.

     Anne-Sophie  J u n g, our German exchange student at the University of Delaware, Newark/DE 2009/10 makes her clerkship, in English and Biology for teaching in secondary schools, in Baden-Württemberg. She lives with her boyfriend in Horb am Neckar.

     Kathrin T e r t e l studied 2009/10 am Oberlin College in Oberlin/Ohio. In Marburg, she then made her graduate work.

     Catherine M a hlmann was our German exchange student at Central Michigan University Mount Pleasant 2008/09. She was in Ghana for a semester as part of the exchange partners of the Department of English Studies of the Liebig University of Giessen.

     Almut C arolus was our German exchange student at Rice University in Houston / Texas 2008/09. She finished her studies in Marburg successfully. For her doctorate, she went to the University of Konstanz.

     Rachel Marie  W a l k e r, America. Exchange student from Bowling Green State University / Ohio 2007/08 has successfully completed her master studies German Studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She also got the prize "Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant". She has visited us in casting and around Munich 15 American exchange students care u. German teaches at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich.

     Dana Catherine P a r f i t t , our exchange student from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff 2006/07, has a Bachelor 2009 achieved. Probably she has reached her Master's conclusion.

     Christian  J u n g war 2006/07 our exchange student at the University of Delaware, Newark, Dipl.-Kaufmann focusing Logistic / SCM and International Management. He works at Bosch, he is an international spare parts service operates. 2013 he has married and lives with his wife in Stuttgart.

     Kerstin R uppel was our exchange student at Bowling Green State University Bowling Green / Ohio 2006/07. She works as a teacher with the subjects English and Sport at the Hungener Comprehensive School. She lives since October 2013 with her boyfriend in Lich in the home.

     Samantha  R e d m o n, America. Exchange student 2004/05 from the University of Arizona in Tucson and friend Aaron (Uni Mainz) there have probably graduated.

     Christoph  B e c k e r, Dipl.Kaufmann, was our exchange student at Union College in Schenectady / NY. 2004/05 and has there acquired his MBA. He works at the KFW Banking Group in Frankfurt / Main as a project manager financing of innovations and investments.

     Julie  A n d e r s e n, American exchange student 2003/04 der Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, was as a volunteer teacher in Albania with the Peace Corps. There she met her current husband, which they in June 2013 married in Denver Colorado. Julie works at the University of Denver's English Language Center.

     Philipp  G r a s e r, Dipl.Kaufmann, was our German exchange student at Union College in Schenectady / NY. 2003/04 , where it has attained his MBA. Philip works in the personnel department of the company Michael Page in Frankfurt / Main.

     Nicole  H e p p n e r  hat 2003/04 studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She works full time at a school and taught as well as English in companies.

     Benjamin  G ö t t l i c h e r  war 2003 our exchange student at the University of Florida in Gainsville. Benjamin works as a teacher at a comprehensive school and teaches English and German for high school classes.

     Courtney L esser was an American exchange student 2002/03 von der Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. She still lives in her house in Lake Worth on a lake. My son is only three years old Sterling. She works at Little Caesars as General Manager.

     Melissa  S t o r r, give. Reddish, MA, our American exchange student 2001/02 from the University of Delaware / Newark, lives with her husband, Adam, in a house in Everett, Nähe Seattle. Melissa teaches German at the Kamiak High School.

     Sabine is Stollenmey, give. S c h m a d e l, German exchange student in 2002/03 at the University of Cincinnati / Ohio, lives with her husband Nicholas (America. Aust.Stud. / Tübingen)in Baltimore, in-house. Both worked full-time at the St. Pauls School for Boys. This year she gave birth to a little daughter and therefore sets a one year maternity leave,  order to take care of the little daughter.

     Carola K ä b i s c h, give. Nickel, German exchange student 2001/2 an der Slippery Rock University / Pennsylvania, lives with her family in Eschborn. She is a mother of two and has since occupied some Montessori training.

     Vanessa r e s s, Dipl.Volkswirtin,  2001/02 deutsche am Austauschstudentin Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota,   married and still lives in Walzbachtal. She works as a project assistant at the Hochshule Pforzheim on a project to improve teaching and Studierendenbetreung d.Landes u.Bundes. She was also a candidate for the SPD Bundestag.

     Carolyn 0'M e and r and, our American exchange student 2000/2001 from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is currently working in Mexico City at the National Autonomous University Department of Indigenous Languages ​​in as Associate Professor.

     Jody  M e i s t e r (Cheshier) America. Exchange student in 1997/98 the University of Arizona Tucson, lives in San Francisco with her boyfriend id. Nähe the Golden Gate Bridge. Jody works for the company. CAP in the finance department. She still has relatives in North Rhine-Westphalia.

You still working for the American company Ernst & Young im Bereich Human Capital. Tracy has three year old twins, which have traveled to Texas with her parents.

     Urs R ü s g e s 1996/97 unser deutscher am Student Concordia College in Moorhead / Min., works for the company Merz (Pharma) in Frankfurt Group Controlling. He lives with his American wife Kristin (met in the exchange)in Ffm. Sohn Max ist 13, Daughter Annika is 9 Year old. Kristin singt beim „Singing Christmas Tree“ Solo.

     Sonja Wittstock, geb.G r u n d, our student 1995/96 an der University of Gainsville / Florida, wohnt in FFM. Has a daughter Hannah. Sonja worked as a freelance language trainer with a focus on business English for large companies and also a lecturer at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.

     Paul  D u n n, America. Exchange student 1995/96 der Central Michigan University Mt. Pleasant, works at CMU as a programmer and part-time IT Professor. He is married to Tanja fall from Eltville, which was also in USA exchange student. Tanya works in a kindergarten. They have a son and a daughter.
